Professionally trained in France, Marc Guilhemjouan, Master Timber Framer, Slate Tile and Metal Roofer (traditional methods), has global experience practicing his trade. Now based in France, he has lived and practiced his craft on four continents (past projects). As head timber framer for Traditional Timber Frame Homes by Marc Guilhemjouan, he studied in France mastering the centuries old methods of French Scribe timber framing with Les Compagnons Du Tour De France. One of the more distinctive features of this method allows construction with regular, or irregular timbers.
In addition to timber frame design and construction, Marc Guilhemjouan has provided training in various arenas. In 1994, he led a workshop for The Timber Framers Guild of North America, training professional Timber Framers; and he has provided a course at the British Columbia Institute of Technology, where their completed bent project remains as a permanent educational structure.
In addition to numerous radio and television appearances, his articles on French Scribe Layout have been published internationally in timber framing trade journals.
Timber frame services include: work with irregular and regular timbers, recycled timbers, design and blue prints, and the ability to precisely calculate any variation of hip rafter and valley on symmetrical or non-symmetrical roof slopes and walls.
